Case 3.1
Hoffman, Charles Fenno. The Echo: or Borrowed Notes for Home Circulation. Philadelphia: Lindsay & Blackiston, 1844.
---. Vigil of Faith and Other Poems. New York: S. Coleman, 1842. SPEC PS 1934 .V4 1842. (Kessinger Legacy facsimile reprint). The poem “Vigil of Faith” was the first poem I was able to locate that referred to the Adirondacks by name, and was therefore the only piece I could envision in the first case of my exhibition. A self-proclaimed “legend of the Adirondack mountains,” “Vigil of Faith” uses narrative to walk us through the Adirondacks and present us with the tranquil beauty found there.
The Echo is on loan from Edward Comstock Jr., Saranac Lake, NY.
