Dean-Eaton Hall
The first dormitory was opened in 1927 for female students. It was provided by gifts from the Dean sisters from Gouverneur and Emily Eaton Hepburn. Additions to the dorm were added in 1946 and 1971.
Carnegie Hall
St. Lawrence University's first building dedicated entirely to the sciences. In 1905, one of America's most famous authors, 1882 alum Irving Bachellor, convinced steel magnate Andrew Carnegie to donate $50,000 for construction of the building bearing his name. The building at various times housed a U.S. Weather Bureau station, one of the first college radio stations, and was even used as a dormitory.
Fisher Hall
The third structure built on campus was to be the dedicated home of the Universalist Theological School at St. Lawrence. The Gothic revival-style building was named for Dr. Ebenezer Fisher, President of the Theological School for its first 13 years. Fisher Hall was destroyed by fire in December of 1951.
Richardson Hall
Built in 1856-57 and originally known simply as "College Hall". This building housed, fed and educated students in the early preparatory school and the Theological School. It was the only academic building on campus until Herring Library was put into use in 1871.
Hepburn Hall
The current government and economics building, is named for Colton-born entrepreneur and philanthropist A. Barton Hepburn (1846-1922), whose name also graces the hospital in Ogdensburg and several local libraries. It was constructed in 1926 thanks to the donation of Hepburn's widow, Emily Eaton Hepburn, and was dedicated three years later by Nobel Prize-winning chemist Mme. Marie Curie.
