Home,
I have looked for a letter all the last week from you but have looked in vain, I wrote you one a week ago last Tuesday, the day I got the box with the boots and cigars in and I sent you $10.00 in the letter.  I am a little anxious about that but I presume you have it __ this, but I should like to know it if you have got it.  I am well and I hope you are the same.  I have been a little uneasy about home for the last 3 or 4 days, for I had a dream that I do not understand.  I dreamed that that the house was on fire and I have not had a letter from you in two weeks and there is some other things that cause me to think that something had happened that was not all right.  There is a good many men in our company a sick and there is a great change coming on among the officers.  We have lost out captain and the first Leiut. comes in captain.   There has several officers resigned and one died last week so our Capt. was transferred to company E.  And you may (guess) that it caused some bad feelings among the men.  It is very muddy hear now and I think it is about as disagreeable weather as we have seen since we came in to Virginia.  I am cook now for squad No 4 and I wish you could look in and see me getting breakfast with 14 in a tent and then to think that we have but one place where we can heat anything and to think that we must have meat and coffee and something fried (rice).  Then after the company has gone to drill just imagine Darwin washing dishes making up the beds and putting things in order. You may bet that I shall keep ______ hold after I come home if I live to get home. Well, I must close this letter by requesting you to write and give me the particulars how things are going about home.  I have written two letters to the Seguin girls since I got one from them and I think that is plenty till they write to me.  I sent mama my photograph about the first of this month and I have not heard from her if she got it.  I also sent (Lorena) Lyons one and  she promises to send me hers but she has not so you would not blame me for not writing to them.  No more at present.  Write soon.  Please destroy this.
