The campus in the early 1950s, looking north, prior to the development of new dormitory space. Notice the iconic "Avenue of the Elms" going away from campus in the center left of the picture, and the burned-out shell of Fisher Hall, which was destroyed by fire in December 1951, visible in front of Gunnison Chapel.
