My dear John -
Hand this letter of instruction enclosed to my young man.
We expect to land in on you about Wednesday the 15th. Dont turn on the cold water.
You may get a bill for a dozen tennis balls. Don't cry! We may need them for bobs if the fishin’s good this summer. I wrote Pete Smith to take soundings on my tennis court, I think it will be a good place for pickerel.
I'm crazy to see neighbor Inglis' Avarat (sp.). I have figgered out that our friend Howard will have to run up the river with four of five jack screws and get busy with his boat house. I told Allen carefully to build my dock considerably lower than the old one. It will be all right for low water years and in high water years we don't want to see the d - thing anyway.
I suppose the Massena will have to lighter (sp.) us this season. Well - ______ and the cut (sp.) of things generally is height + the St. Lawrence is sure fashionable.
