My dear Bigelow - your Dec 22 at hand.
Well I hope to come over and would be glad to do work for the Pall Mall Magazine.
Would they give us six articles - and give me 5 or 6 pages at $125 a page?
When would you start for the Continent? I would not care to stay in London long I will bring your canoe if I come.
I would rather go in some other fashion than by canoe but we could arrange that.
Well, put up the job - make arrangements and then give me full particulars.
I have heard many people say that the Millet, Bigelow affair hurt Millet.
This [things] are badly out of joint in the U.S. The West and South and the East are fighting each other in Congress. This sectional difference is inevitable and will increase. It bears danger in it to the Republic. The Republican and Democratic parties are disintegrating.
Hope to hear from you soon and if everything is straight “I’m wid ye.”
Yours
