Dear Kid:
Left Ignacio -had to go up the road half way to Denver to get a nights sleep and at 6 o'c A.M. go back - stopped at Espanosa and got ready to do a Pueblo village. It was cold and cloudy and I did not like pueblos -blue qui have breeches - did for me - I dont want to do pueblos - too tame - so got train for Santa Fe. Have had first bath in 10 days.
Going to talk to Gov. Bruce (sp.) to-morrow and dont know what I am going to do. Have bought the biggest best piece of old crockery you ever saw - also one of those pieces of blue slag which you wanted.
This is election night and the town is very much excited. Reports are favorable to McK. but cant tell yet.
I am either going to do Pueblos or not and dont yet know. I think I wont. They dont appeal to me - too decorative - and too easily in reach of every tenderfoot.
Shall never come west again - It is all brick buildings derby hats and blue overhauls [sic] -it spoils my early illusions and they are my capital.
I have had a hard trip - eating all hours - all food dirty and not much killing.
You come near having your second husband + the 10,000 day before yesterday. On a mountain grade our passenger car became detached and me and the brakeman stopped her otherwise.
