New R - Thursday

My dear Grandpa -
Have been thinking of you - have just come from a bear hunt in New Mexico - chased them with hounds, we on horseback. Great sport - got a silver tip 700 lbs. one black 300 lbs. cow-boy caught the silver tip with their ropes - three of them + killed him with rocks and a knife. They had no guns. - I shot an antelope at 200 yards through the heart.
I am very hard at work painting horses in my back yard. It’s warm here. As soon as it cools will ship you some oysters and clams. Its a little warm yet.
Haven’t had much fun this year - had to hustle for a living but you see Harpers and know about how I do it.-
I dont think there will be any more Democrats ever again - They have made such cussed idiots of themselfs that they are going out of business. They will lick Tammany in New York City and that is a blessing.
The trouble with this country is that there are too many d - fools in it, but the fool-killer is sharpening up his knife and there aint going to be so many after a bit.
Eva sends love and I wish you good health for a long while yet. I am a very busy man and dont have time to black my boots - much less write letters or I would do so often. Eva writes
to Em. though and you hear about us and we you.
Tell Rob that my man Tom wants two (not loud colored) of those Macanaw lumberman's shirts this winter and he can send them on with the veal - also bill.
Yours faithfully
Frederic Remington
