Herring-Cole Hall
St. Lawrence University's first "real" library began as Herring Library, built in 1869. In 1902, an addition, made of the same Potsdam sandstone and called the Cole Reading Room, was added. The facility was the main University library until the opening of Owen D. Young Library in 1959.
