Appleton Arena in it's more traditional role as an ice hockey venue, taken in the 1950s. Thousand jammed into the new arena to see the "Larries" take on eastern college and university teams and college squads from Canada.

The home of the "Larries" in its early years, Appleton Arena is the home of the Division I Saints men's and women's Ice Hockey programs. The product of a massive fund raising campaign involving students, alumni, administration and the community, the $400,000 multi-use arena opened in January of 1951. It was named to honor St. Lawrence Trustee Charles W. Appleton.
