The home of the "Larries" in its early years, Appleton Arena is the home of the Division I Saints men's and women's Ice Hockey programs. The product of a massive fund raising campaign involving students, alumni, administration and the community, the $400,000 multi-use arena opened in January of 1951. It was named to honor St. Lawrence Trustee Charles W. Appleton.

The expanding female student population in the roaring 20s helped the push toward construction of an on-campus dormitory for girls. Dean Eaton Hall was completed in 1927, and was funded by gifts from the Dean Family of Gouverneur and SLU alumna Mrs. Emily Eaton Hepburn.
